Yushan Islands on Historical Navigation Line

渔山列岛（北纬28°54＇,东经122°15＇）,共有54座大小岛礁,距离宁波市象山县城74.5公里。主岛是南渔山岛（面积0.88平方公里,最高点海拔127.2米）、北渔山岛（面积0.4平方公里,最高点海拔84.3米）。

A Chinese boat was found under the water in the Yushan Islands,Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China, in 2008. By analyzing the relics from the boat, it is believed to be wrecked in Daoguang period（1821-1850） of Qing Dynasty, though the exact date of the tragedy remains uncertain. We still do not know from which port it departed, to which place it planned to sail, and for what cause it wrecked. This paper examines the Chinese historical documents including maps about the Yushan Islands hoping to find some clues for these questions. In the sea area surrounding the Yushan Islands, there were two navigation lines, one was coast line which was local, another is ocean-going line which connecting different provinces or even oversea countries. Yushan Islands was located on the ocean-going line in Qing Dynasty, and the quality of the porcelains loading on the boat wrecked in the Yushan Islands is so poor that they would not found a market in coast province such as Fujian or Guangdong, so a reasonable inference is that the wrecked boat might plan to sail to Taiwan or Ryukyu, or even countries overseas.
