In the political speeches, following by the Politeness theories will contribute to making an effective agreement in the political communication. This paper, depending on the politeness principles put forward by Leech, analyzes the politeness phenomenon in the extracts of the public speeches delivered by the first lady of America in China, which help to explain how to fol ow and use the politeness principle properly, so as to reach the communication purposes in our daily life.
