浅析中国书法艺术中“气势”一词的英译

书法是汉字的书写艺术,是中华民族的文化瑰宝,自古以来深受文人雅客的喜爱。近年来,随着我国的国际影响力不断提升,书法作为中国传统文化的精华,正受到越来越多人的关注和认可。在评价书法作品时,人们常用到"气势"一词,本文就该词的翻译展开讨论,挖掘"气势"背后的文化内涵,通过查阅权威词典、博物馆解说词和语料库,提出了笔者认为较为完整的英文释义。

Calligraphy, or shufa, is the art of writing Chinese characters. It is one of the greatest culturaltreasures of China and has been enjoying popularity among literati since ancient times. When people appre ciatecalligraphymasterpieces, the term qishi often occur in their comments. This paper, therefore, focuses on the C-E translation of qishi. The discussion begins with the decoding of culturalconnotations of this term, and then goes on by collecting relevant expressions from authoritative dictionaries, online museum resources as well as corpuses. The paper ends with a list of translation options proposed by the author.
