On the Deciphering and Research of a Northern Wei Dynasty Stele Found in the Mahala Temple

最近在炳灵寺属寺东乡嘛哈啦寺发现了一块北魏正光六年的红砂岩石碑。本文介绍了石碑的概况,对背面的文字做了初步的识读和注解,并对石碑的来历和价值做了一定的研究,认为石碑是研究炳灵寺石窟艺术在北魏后期发展演进的重要资料。

A red sandstone stele from the sixth year of the Zhengguang era of the Northern Wei dynasty has recently been found in the Mahala Temple at Dongxiang, which is managed by the Binglingsi Grottoes administration. This paper introduces the general condition of the stele, preliminarily deciphers and annotates the text carved on its back, makes a study on its history and value, and concludes that the stele is very important to the study of the evolution of the cave art of the Binglingsi Grottoes in the late Northern Wei dynasty.
