An Insight into Liu Bang's Spiritual World

刘邦的精神世界建基于儒家思想和帝王观念的融合,在反秦灭楚兴汉过程中得以呈现,大体上包涵以"大丈夫"为夙求的人生志趣,以智、仁、勇"三达德"为核心的个人素养,以豁达大度为底色的人格特质,这不但改变了刘邦的政治命运,还影响到秦汉之际的历史进程。

Liu Bang＇ s spiritual world was built on the basis of the fusion of Confucianism and imperial ideology, both of which were reflected in his overthrowing the Qin Dynasty, subjugating the Western Chu led by Xiang Yu, and eventually founding the Han Dynasty. The elements of his spiritual world consist of his life pursuit of being a paragon of virtue, his personal accomplishment with the ＂three virtues＂ of wisdom, benevolence and courage at its core, as well as his inherent personality traits marked by magnanimity and broad-mindedness. All these had not only changed the political destiny of Liu Bang but also affected the historical process of the succession of the Qin and Han Dynasties.
