May 16,2019 witnessed the opening of the Forum on Tea Culture Development of China at the Third China International Tea Expo in Hangzhou. The forum focused on the tea industry development in rural counties in China: individual tea farmers, high quality, and modernization. Those who attended the forum discussed how individual farmers should integrate themselves into the modernization of the tea industry. Special Coverage in this issue examines Anji in Zhejiang, Anxi in Fujian and Anhua in Hunan, three counties that have economically flourished by turning tea production into a major economic pillar. Moreover, there are 246 major tea production areas across the country. These tea production areas have also blazed trails in alleviating poverty and rural reconstruction by boosting tea production.
