In this thesis,within the framework of Systemic-Functional linguistics,the author attempts to analyze Thematic Structure Theory and apply the theory to the study of English-Chinese or Chinese-English translation.Whether to preserve or adjust part of the original thematic pattern depends on the specific situation in the translating process.Thematic Structure Theory is of great signification to translating skills and achievement of functional equivalence in translation.
