All the King’s Men is often considered as the most representative work of Robert Penn Warren. Its republication won him a Pulitzer Prize. Many critics both at home and abroad tend to focus their attention on the two main characters of the novel and analyze the political ups and downs of Willie and Jack's spiritual development. However, in the growth of an individual, the parents play an important role in his development. This paper tries to employ Freud’s Theory of Personality to analyze this novel from the perspective of the parents in the family and explore their role in the protagonist Jack's growth.
