Disputes and Trends of Faculty Participation in Contemporary American Universities' Shared Governance:Based on the Comparative Analysis of Four National Survey Reports

摘要 教师在当代美国大学治理中扮演着十分重要的角色。近几十年来,大学治理的企业化倾向、共同治理的危机以及教师权力弱化等问题引起学界的关注和争论。1970年以来的四次全国性大学治理调查报告显示,当代美国大学共同治理的基本结构保持稳定,教师在学术领域依然保持着主导权,而在非学术领域的参与权也有所扩大。然而,大学治理结构与治理实践的关系较为复杂,相关问题仍有待深入研究。 The faculty has been playing a very important role in the governance of contemporary American universities. In recent decades,the tendency of corporate governance in universities,the crisis of shared governance and the weakening of academic power have aroused attention and controversy of scholars. Through the comparative analysis of the four national university governance survey reports,the basic structure of contemporary American university shared governance remains stable. The faculty remain dominant in the academic field,and their participation in non-academic field has also been expanded. However,the relationship between university governance structure and practice is complicated,and the related issues still need further study.
