摘要
William Shakespeare,an English poets, playwright and actor, is widely regarded as both the greatest writer in the Englishlanguage, and the world's pre-eminent dramatist. His works includes about 39 plays,154 sonnets, two long narrative poems, and afew other verses.In his sonnets, Shakespeare employed many rhetorical devices to make the theme prominent.Sonnet 60 is one ex-ample. Through the analysis of the rhymes, rhyme scheme, and the rhetoric a device, this paper argues that time is destructive andcould not be preserved by anyone, and nothing will escape the destruction of time. Besides, analyzing the rhymes and the rhetoricdevices could improve one's reading comprehension and the ability to appreciate the literary works.
