伊斯雷尔·爱泼斯坦是中华人民共和国国家外国专家局中一位重要的外籍专家。凭借新闻工作者的职业特性,加上长期在华生活的特殊经历,他对中国国情有着切身体验和实际了解,同时对国际政治格局和经济形势能准确把握,形成一套独特的宣传思想和办刊方针。他参与创办并先后担任执行编辑和总编辑的《中国建设》,是中华人民共和国成立初期对外宣传战线的一份重要外文刊物,在恶劣的国际形势下,冲破美国等西方国家的舆论封锁,将中国的真实情形向全世界广为传播。作为一名"他者",爱泼斯坦笔下的中国描写对外国人来说更为客观可信,对中共的形象塑造不无助益。后来,他加入中国国籍并加入中国共产党,完成了从"他者"到"我们"的华丽转换,更是以实际行动证明了其宣传的可靠性。

Israel Epstein was an important foreign expert in the State Bureau of Foreign Experts of the PRC.His special experience in China helped him to have a vivid and practical understanding of China's national conditions,and to have an accurate grasp of the international political and economic situation,thus forming a unique set of propaganda ideas.He participated in the establishment of China Construction,which was an important foreign language publication in the early days of the PRC.Under the harsher international situation,he broke through the blockade of public opinion by the United States and other Western countries,spread the real situation of New China to the whole world.As a"other",Epstein's description of China was more objective and credible to foreigners,and it's helpful to shape the image of the CPC.Later,he joined the Chinese nationality and the CPC,completed the magnificent transformation from"the other"to"ourselves",and proved what he propagandized with his own practical actions.
