《泉》是新古典主义大师安格尔的作品,知名度极高却缺乏深入的分析。《泉》与安格尔其他作品以及古典主义传统关系紧密,它们共同构成了一种隐喻背景,使画面充盈意义。传统画作的意义大多是隐喻性的,它在历史上形成了固定表达,往往具有程式化和符号化的意味。具体到《泉》中的人物、造型、背景在图形学意义上都有其历史与特定意涵,但安格尔打破了某些固定模式让它们产生不同的理解,使宁芙仙女并非画中看上去那样静穆,她内心的波澜体现出不同于新古典主义的时代气息。

La Source is the neoclassicist master Ingres  work,widely known but for lack of in-depth analysis. La Source,as well as his other works and the classicist tradition had close relations which constituted a metaphorical background,so that the painting was replete of meaning. The meaning of traditional paintings was mostly metaphorical; they formed in the history of a fixed expression,often with a kind of stylized and symbolic implication.Painters,like Ingres,often produced a different metaphor,so that the image could make a new narrative. Specific to La Source in the characters,shapes,background from iconology had its history and specific meaning,but Ingres broke certain fixed modes so that they were open to different understandings and interpretations. Nymph was not painted up quietly,her inner waves reflected the spirit of the new era.
