Objective To investigate effect of transitional care model on the growth and development of late preterm infants. Methods A total of 80 patients with late preterm infant admitted to our hospital were randomly selected as research objects, and were randomly divided into two groups, with 40 cases per group. The late preterm infants in the intervention group was given transitional care model, and those in the control group was given routine care. The indicators of feeding, defecation, body temperature, skin integrity, growth and development at 30 and 90 d after discharge were recorded and compared between the two groups. Results The feeding, defecation, body temperature and skin integrity of 2 groups Were in good condition after 30, 90 days after discharge. The feeding and defecation of the intervention group were better than that of the control group. At 30 d after intervention, the growth and development indicators such as head circumference, body mass and body length of the intervention group were better than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant ( P 〈0.05). However, no differences were seen in growth and development indicators at 90 days after intervention between the two groups( P 〉0.05). Conclusion The transitional care model can significantly improve the growth and development indicators of late preterm infants, enhance awareness of feeding knowledge and skills, and promote defecation function.
