Text Analysis and Translation from the Perspective of Functional Linguistics——A Case Study of Becoming a Critical Thinker(Excerpts)

立足于功能语言学视角,本文以《如何造就你的批判性思维》翻译为例,认为语篇语境和谋篇方式应是翻译的基点。语篇语境的层次性和系统性分析有助于译者在语篇翻译过程中解决具体语言形式和意义选择问题;语篇谋篇方式分析则指导译者生成具有语义连贯的主位推进模式、清晰的语篇信息结构和得当的衔接方式的译语语篇。

Based on Functional Linguistics, and with the translation of Ruggiero＇s Becoming a Critical Thinker, the author of this thesis considers text as a basic unit and applied text analysis to explore the strategies and techniques in text translation. From the translation project, this thesis finally reaches the conclusion that textual context plays an indispensable role in the process of translation. Its stratifi- cation and systematization can help translators choose specific linguistic forms and meanings during the process of translation. The analysis of the organization and development of the text can guide translators to produce a target text which possesses semantically co- herent thematic progression patterns, clear textual information structures and appropriate cohesion devices.
