熊应雄所著《小儿推拿广意》为儿科推拿法中之要籍,其在诊断方面尤重视形、色望诊;在治疗方面倡导小儿推拿,新增了坎宫、走马、膀胱等推拿特定穴位及其推拿手法,规范了"推拿面部次第"和"推拿手部次第"等推拿次序,扩大了除惊风以外的儿科各疾病适应症;熊氏在临证中重视辨证论治,既推崇小儿推拿,同时不偏废方药;并注重小儿的鞠育和调护在儿科疾病防治中的作用。《小儿推拿广意》为小儿推拿的发展奠定了重要基础,其学术思想对儿科临床具有重要指导意义。

The Broad Sense of Pediatric Tuina written by XIONG Yingxiong is one of the essential classics on pediatric tuina. In terms of diagnosis, it especially focuses on inspection of figure and complexion. In terms of treatment, it advocates pediatric tuina,newly adds specific acupoints such as Kangong,Zouma and Pangguang and their correspondent tuina manipulations, standardizes the order of tuina including ＂ facial tuina order＂ and ＂ hand tuina order＂, and expands each indication of pediatric diseases besides infantile convulsion. In terms of clinical practice, XIONG attaches importance to syndrome differentiation, who not only promotes pediatric tuina, but also avoids the mere emphasis on herbal prescription; and pays attention to the pediatric nurturing, nursing and caring and their significance in the prevention and treatment of pediatric diseases. The Broad Sense of Pediatric Tuina has laid important foundation for the development of pediatric tuina, and its academic thoughts has instructive significance for the clinical practice in pediatrics.
