Reasons for Strengthening the Service for Minors in Libraries

[目的 /意义]从理论上分析加强国内图书馆未成年人服务的必要性与紧迫性,启迪和提示学界业界加大对这一方向的关注和资源投入。[方法 /过程]在梳理近年来图书馆未成年人服务主要理论成果的基础上,通过归纳推理方法和文献回顾方法进行论证。[结果 /结论 ]文明政府普遍高度关注图书馆未成年人服务;未成年人群体需通过图书馆阅读实现高质量、全方位的成长;培养未成年人的阅读习惯,不断提升服务质量是中小学和公共图书馆共同的职责;与国际同行业对照,国内图书馆未成年人服务的发展并不乐观。所以有必要也亟需加强各类型的图书馆未成年人服务,以有效地保障未成年人的信息需求与信息权利。

[Purpose/significance] The present article aims at proving the necessity and urgencyof strengthening the service for minors in Chinese libraries so as to attract more attention toand resources investment in this aspect. [Method/process] By summarizing the main theoreticalachievements of the library service for minors in recent years, this paper makes an argumentthrough inductive reasoning and literature review. [Result/conclusion] The following resultsare obtained from this study （1） The civilized government generally pays close attention to theservice for minors; （2） Minors need to read the books to achieve high quality and all-roundgrowth; （3） Supporting school education, developing reading habits and ability, and continuouslyimproving service quality are the common responsibility of primary and middle school librariesand public libraries; （4） At present, these two kinds of library in China are not fully developed,and they have not been able to occupy the same dominant position as their internationalcounterparts. And it is conclude that it is necessary and urgent to strengthen the library servicefor minors in order to effectively protect their information needs and information rights.
