政治语篇翻译的文化自信——以《毛泽东选集》英译为例

Cultural confidence in political discourse translation——Exemplified by English versions of Selected Works of Mao Tse-tung

文化自信是对中国文化价值的充分肯定与积极践行。政治语篇代表中国政府的立场与态度,蕴含了丰富的中国文化,政治语篇翻译是国际社会和外国读者了解中国文化的最权威的渠道。政治语篇翻译要做到文化自信,关键是译者在翻译实践过程中要肩负好翻译使命、传承好传统文化、兼容好外来文化和展望好中国文化。《毛泽东选集》英译是凸显文化自信的政治语篇翻译典范。本文从译者方面探讨译者文化自信是当代翻译活动践行文化"走出去"战略的必然要求。

Cultural confidence is the affirmation and practice of Chinese cultural value. In recent years, President Xi Jinping has repeatedly emphasized the significance of cultural confidence. Containing rich Chinese culture, political texts represent the stand and attitude of the Chinese government. The translation of political texts is an authoritative way for the international society and foreign readers to know about Chinese culture. Thus translators should shoulder high sense of responsibility to translate traditional culture, foreign culture and modem culture faithfully with cultural confidence. Selected Works of Mao Tse-tung represent excellent Chinese revolutionary culture and advanced socialist culture. The English versions of Selected Works of Mao Tse-tung are a canon of translating Chinese culture with cultural confidence. Therefore, this paper tries to demonstrate that translators with cultural confidence are necessary for Chinese culture going out.
