Reasons for Chiang Ching-kuo's Gannan New Policy from a Psychohistory's Interpretation

蒋经国之所以开展赣南新政,是因为他在自身强人政治心理的作用下,渴望整顿赣南社会秩序,以加强政府威权;在抗战救国心理的效应下,自觉动员赣南民众抗日,来增强抗战力量;在政党党际心理的触发下,意在维护国民党派利益,并打压中共人士。可见,蒋经国实行赣南新政的原因,是其个人经历、赣南红色地域、全国抗战和国共相争的时势等主、客因素共同作用下的心理发展过程及结果使然。

The reasons for Chiang Ching-kuo＇s carrying out Gannan New Policy are as follows： Under the influence of Strongman＇s Political psychology,he yearned for rectifying the social order in Gannan so as to strengthen the government＇s authority; Under the effect of Anti-Japanese national salvation psychology,he automatically mobilized the mass in Gannan to join the Anti-Japanese War for the purpose of strengthening the resistance forces; Under the triggering of inter-party psychology,he aimed to safeguard the interests of the National Parties and suppress the Chinese communists. It is found that the reasons for Chiang Ching-kuo＇s implementation of the New Policy in Gannan is a psychological development process and result under the joint action of subjective and objective factors,such as his personal experience,the red region in Gannan,the national Anti-Japanese war and the current situation of the Kuomintang-Communist struggle.
