Constructing “China's Peripheral Studies”: Historical Backgrounds,Conceptual Framework and Future Direction

在当前中国宏观外交布局调整、对外政策变革及初步的学理基础的共同影响下,构建"中国周边学"的倡议应运而生。"中国周边学"是政治学的一个分支学科,它是对中国与大周边国家和地区之间的政治、外交、安全、地缘战略、经济和社会发展等领域的互动关系和发展规律进行综合性探究的一门交叉学科。作为一门酝酿中的社会科学下的新兴学科,"中国周边学"有反映其自身学科特征和知识经验的独立的研究范围和研究方法。在"中国周边学"的未来发展进程中,要重点关注机构与学科、语种与国别及视野与路径等三大方向上的工程建设与学术自觉。

Under the influence of the current adjustment of China＇s macroscopic diplomacy configuration, changes in foreign policy and preliminary theoretical foundations, the initiative to construct ＂China＇s Peripheral Studies＂ emerged at the right moment. This article defines ＂China＇s Peripheral Studies＂ as a subdiscipline of political science, more specifically, it is an inter - discipline formed by exploring the interactive relations and development rules of political, diplomatic, security, geo -strategic,economic and social development between China and grand peripheral countries and regions. As a burgeoning discipline under the social science, it has independent research scope and research methods that reflect its own disciplinary characteristics and knowledge experience. In the process of future development of ＂China＇s Peripheral Studies＂, we must pay attention to engineering construction and academic consciousness in the three major directions of institutions and disciplines, languages and countries, and perspectives and approaches.
