Cultural Hegemony Hidden in the Discourses by Major Western Media

本文从后殖民的视角分析了西方主流媒体描述中国的话语,指出里面暗含的西方中心论思想容易使英语习得者产生认同,自愿接受西方的文化霸权。对此我们需要首先对外来文化采取取其精华,去其糟粕的态度;其次树立文化自信,增强自己的文化软实力;最后积极参与国际交流与合作,勇于在世界平台上发声。

By analyzing the discourse describing China by major Western media from the perspective of postcolonial theory, this paper elaborates that the west-centrism hidden in the discourse easily makes English language learners identify,and accepts western cultural hegemony willingly. Therefore, we should ？ rst take the essence and discard the dregs from foreign cultures, then build con？ dence toward our own culture by enhancing our cultural soft power, ？ nally take an active part in international communication and cooperation and be brave enough to articulate on the world platform.
