＂葛浩文式意译＂是通过对葛浩文翻译思想的解读并在实践上验证后确认的。它既包括译学界所说的＂直译＂,也包括文化层面上归化的做法,是除了＂死译＂＂硬译＂外的所有翻译形式。根据连续统的观点,本文把＂葛浩文式意译＂进行了层次性划分,论证了葛浩文＂忠实＂＂直译＂和＂意译＂之间的关系以及他在作者和读者间所进行的平衡努力。葛浩文是中国文学外译的成功者,对＂葛浩文式意译＂的发现和研究,有利于中华文化更有效地传播和翻译批评学科的健康发展。

The ＂Goldblatt＇s Style of Free Translation＂ is confirmed by his thoughts on translation and his corresponding performances. It includes not only the ＂direct translation＂ agreed in the circles of translation studies, but also the cultural domesticating ways. It refers to all sorts of translation styles except for the so-called ＂dead＂ or ＂rigid＂ translation. In the perspective of the continuum, this article hierarchically divides the Goldblatt＇s Style of Free Translation into a few types and discusses the relationship of ＂fi delity＂, ＂direct translation＂ and ＂free translation＂ in Howard Goldblatt＇s idea and his attempts to keep balance between the author and the readers. Goldblatt is successful in translating and spreading the Chinese literature, so the results of present study are not only helpful for the Chinese culture to go global more efficiently, but also helpful for the healthy development of the discipline of Translation Criticism.
