The interrogative-form response to questions and its interactional function in Chinese daily conversation

本文主要讨论汉语自然口语中的疑问式回应,即对问句所做出的、由疑问形式充当的回应。汉语中的疑问式回应主要可分为他发修正和一般疑问式回应两类。他发修正主要是对互动中因接受或理解造成的互动困难提出问题,并要求解决以保障互动的进行。一般疑问式回应主要是对上一问句提出进一步疑问,以更好地回答问题。他发修正和一般疑问式回应都可被用作表达回应者疏离态度的手段。

This paper discusses the interrogative-form response in Chinese everyday con- versation. The interrogative-form responses in Chinese everyday conversation can be mainly divided into two categories, other-initiated repair and normal interrogative-form response. Other-initiated repair refers to the case in which the recipients raise questions about the in- teractive obstacles caused by acceptance in the interaction and ask for solutions to guarantee the ongoing of interaction. The normal interrogative-form response is a case in which a fur- ther question is asked about the previous question for a better answer. Both other-initiated repair and normal interrogative-form response can be used as a means to express disaffiliation of the respondent.
