The Cognitive Linguistic Analysis on the Semantic Equivalence in the Dictionary of English-Chinese Phrase

英汉词典词目翻译的主要任务是使汉语释义与英语词目等值。目前市场上的一些英汉双解习语词典条目翻译的质量欠佳,存在着语义信息不足或过量,忽视语法、文化信息,因对原语理解错误而造成翻译错误等问题。本文将在认知语言学的框架下,从图形—背景理论的基本思想出发,分析这些翻译中存在的问题。

The primary mission for the translation in bilingual dictionaries is to make the Chinese paraphrase equal to the English phrase. At the same time,the quality of bilingual dictionary of phrase is not very good in the current market,for the less or excessive semantic quantity,the ignorance of grammar and culture information,the translation mistake resulted from the misunderstanding of the source text. Starting from the fundamental ideas of fig-ure-ground theory and based on the framework of cognitive linguistics,this paper explores the problems lying in the translation of English-Chinese phrase dictionary.
