In China,reading teaching occupies a very important position in English teaching. The comprehensive usage of vocabulary,grammar and text can be evaluated by testing the students’ reading competence. As a most frequently adopted test form,the design of the multiple-choice items influences the validity directly. The paper explores the format of MC,discusses some principles influencing reading test and the advantages and disadvantages of this type of test.
