英汉语言是两种截然不同的语言,所依赖的文化底蕴也有很大的差异,而习语又是各自文化的结晶,承载着英汉民族不同的文化特色和文化信息,在翻译时文化因素往往成为难点,成为跨文化交际中的障碍。从跨文化交际的视角探讨译者在翻译英汉习语时必须熟知和理解原语言和译语的的文化内涵,使译文忠实通畅以实现跨文化交际。

English and Chinese are completely different languages based on a large cultural gap. Idioms are the embodiment of the culture,which tends to be a barrier to the intercultural communication. This paper deals with the argument from an intercultural perspective that translators should be fully aware of the implications of both cultures so that the translation of idioms is accurate and the communication across culture can succeed.
