摘要
With the wasteland standing out as the setting stage of the story, the study attempts to analyze the symbolic meanings ofthis imagery in Claire Mcfall's novel Ferryman. By linking the wasteland imagery to that in T. S. Elliot's masterpiece The Waste Land, and through text analysis, the study analyzes the interactive relationship between the characters and the wasteland, and re-veals that the wasteland imagery in the novel is indeed a reflection of the ruthless social reality and the oppressive social system.
