Interpretation of There Was a Queen from Space Perspective

诺贝尔奖获者威廉·福克纳的短篇小说《曾有过这样一位女王》讲述了南方种植园主沙多里斯家族女性的悲剧故事,探讨了美国南方以空间为基础的权利运作机制,以及黑人奴仆被压迫、主体意识丧失的情况。福克纳以这所南方种植园宅院为背景,描写了在不同空间表征下的人各自所采取的空间实践,通过女性和黑人的空间实践可以看出他们依然在竭力维护着南方的传统秩序,同时也反映了福克纳的妇女观和对种族制度的态度。

There Was a Queen,a short story written by William Faulkner,a Nobel winner,narrates tragic women story in Sartoris＇ family,exploring the space-based rights operation mechanism of the South,self-discipline of black slaves,and the loss of black subjective consciousness under self-discipline. This paper investigates people＇s spatial practice under different spatial representations with the background of the house,from which we can find that they are still trying to maintain the old traditional order in the South after the Civil War. Through this story we can also observe Faulkner＇s attitudes towards women and race.
