Rambling on a Floating Life is a collection of several essays published by Zhang Jingsheng in the 1950s, vividly describing his life experiences and life pursuits. These essays focus on the daily details, the fun of trivial things in life and the thoughts of it. The succinctness, practicality and transcendence of the essays are intertwined, expressing the pursuit of freedom and the whipping of restraint, the nostalgia and yearning for nature, and the exploration and reflection of the value of everyday things. The ideal personality and poetic expression in these essays provide a way for us to explore the meaning of life, leading people to the peace of mind, integration with the world, as well as freedom and open-mindedness. Though Zhang Jingsheng was unaccepted by the world, he still enjoyed himself and his life.
