On the Representation of Natural Exploration Intelligence in the Traditional Handicraft of the Li People

自然探索智能是指人类认识植物、动物和其它自然环境的能力。自然探索智能也是影响和决定一个族群整体手工艺水准和特色的关键因素之一。海南黎族是一个主要居住在山区的农耕民族,探索积累了丰富的自然知识,尤其对草木的习性有着极深的了解,并十分精彩地应用到了织锦、制陶、编织等各项传统手工艺技艺中去。丰富的工艺博物知识成为黎族传统手工艺造物文化中的特色篇章,充分体现出了历代黎族人民杰出的自然探索智能。

Natural exploration intelligence refers to the ability of human beings to understand plants,animals and other natural environments,and it is also one of the key factors affecting and determining the overall handicraft level and characteristics of an ethnic group. As a farming ethnic group mainly living in mountainous areas,the Li people in Hainan have accumulated in their exploration a wealth of knowledge of the natural world,esp. a deep understanding of the habits of vegetation,and have aptly applied such knowledge in various traditional handicraft techniques such as brocade weaving,pottery making and knitting,etc. The rich knowledge of craftsmanship has become a unique chapter in the traditional handicraft culture of the Li nationality,which fully reflects the outstanding natural exploration intelligence of the Li people in the past.
