The most representative world stories of transformations are Supernatural Tales from the Liao Chamber by Pu Songling and The Metamorphoses by Ovidius, both of which uniquely represent the emotional relations between man and nature through fanciful imagination. This article compares the manners of the transformation of the forms of lives, explores the characteristics and differences between such stories, and probes into the ecological thought as revealed by the stories. We find that both types of such stories superbly apply the ecological principles of energy transference, interconnectedness, and nature as a complete ecosystem. We also find that the Supernatural Tales from the Liao Chamber delineates nature as a spiritual being and the Western counterpart, a wild other.
