Based on the legend of Erlang “Splitting Peach Mountain with Axes and Saving Mother” in Journey to the West and the creation process of Wu Chengen, this paper analyzes the closely related literature materials such as The Whole Section of Erlang Splitting Mountain to Save Mother, and concludes that the Lotus Cracked Stone and Lotus Cave in Haizhou’s North Yuntai Mountain are where Erlang’s legend took place. And from the local cultural relics, folk legends, natural features and natural landscape, it further explores and proves the source of the legend.
