Through analyzing the pre-marriage check-up data from 8968 cases in the Xuhui District of Shanghai Mu-nicipality in 1997,it was shown that 7.43% people were found to have reproductive systemic diseases,whichhold a proportion of 56.49% among people having any kind of diseases.The rates among males and females are10.82% and 4.05%,respectively.Syphilis and other sexually transmitted diseases were found in both male andfemale,married or unmarried clients.23.50% of unmarried women had unwanted pregnancy,17.88% had in-duced abortion before.HBsAg positive rate was 6.31%.It was implied that there were quite a few reproductivehealth issues among the people who attend the pre-marriage check-up clinic,it was very important to promoteIEC and provide pre-marriage instruction for this group.
