英语副词again句中位置分布的主观性差异体现

A Study on the Subjective Differences of the Poition Distributions of Engllsh Adverb "Again" in Sentences

本文参照Langacker的主观性研究框架探讨英语副词again在句中不同位置的主观性差异。从美国历史语料库(COHA)中抽取语料1000例进行标注和观察'发现,副词again在句中的位置分布有四类:句末、句中、句首和插入语位置,且主观性语义有明显强弱之分。在深度挖掘位置与主观性语义变化关系的同时,还原英语副词again语法化语义演变映射下的句法位置演变轨迹。

With Langacker＇ s synchronic model of subjectivity in Cognitive Grammar as rationale, this paper centers on the subjectivity differences of the four positional distributions that English adverb ＂again＂ has within a sentence, namely posWerbal position, preverbal position, initial position and inserted position. Based on the abundant corpom ofadverb ＂again＂ collecting from COHA, this paper finds that when in different sentence positions, English adverb ＂again＂ reflectsdifferentdegreesofsubjectivity. Understanding of the relation between the position and its degree of subjectivity is able to clarify the positional distribution principle of adverb ＂again＂ with the help of the enhancing subjectivity meaning.
