论刘子的“名”说

Liu Zi's “Name” Theory

刘子作为南北朝时期著名的思想家,著有《刘子》一书传世,该书内容丰富,涉及范围广泛,在中国古代思想史上,具有一定的地位和影响。其中对"名"的问题进行了深刻论述,论证了"名"与"实"、"善名"与"恶名"的关系等。刘子认为,"名"和"实"必须一致,才能使一些事情达到最佳的效果,而在现实生活中,之所以出现诸多问题,很大程度上就在于"名"与"实"的脱节。另外"善名"导致的结果并非一定是善,而"恶名"导致的结果也并非一定是"恶",这些都应该在具体的环境中分析和使用,才能使"名"的价值得到真正的体现。应该说刘子的"名"说在一定程度上引导了人们的思维发展,研究其"名"说对我们进一步了解刘子的社会思想可谓意义重大。

As a famous thinker in the Southern and Northern Dynasties, Liu Zi was the author of the book Liu Zi which is rich in its contents covering a wide range. It has a certain influence and position in the history of ancient Chinese thought. Among them, the issue of “name” was deeply discussed, and the relationship of“name”and “fact” and that of “good name” and “bad name” were demonstrated. Liu Zi believes that “name”and “fact” must be consistent in order to achieve the best results of some things. While in real life, many problems appeared are largely due to the disjunction of“name”and “fact”. In addition, the result of “good name” is not necessarily being good, and the result of “bad name” is not necessarily being evil. Only when they are analyzed and used in a specific environment, can the value of “name” be truly reflected. Thus, it should be mentioned that Liu Zi’s “name”theory guides people’s thinking development to a certain extent, and it is of great importance for us to study his “name”theory to further understand his social thought.
