The thesis is based on the novel Babbitt ,from the following three aspects: the degeneration of Babbitt 's personality ,the snobbish attitudes towards his old schoolmates ,and the execution and acknowledgement of American's ban against alcoholic drinks , exposes the hypocrisy, snobbery and corruption of the mid-class in the 1920's Meanwhile, concludes the leading value is drifting with the tide vulgarly.
