A Preliminary Report on the Excavation of the Ming Tomb of Shen Qiao and His Wife

2012年2~6月,洛阳市文物考古研究院在定鼎北路以西、苗南村东南发掘清理一批明代墓葬,发现明南京工部尚书沈应时及其家族墓地,其中包括沈应时之子沈侨夫妇墓,出土一批彩绘陶俑及日用陶器,为研究洛阳地区明代葬俗提供了一批重要资料。

From February to June 2012, the Luoyang Municipal Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology excavated a cluster of Ming tombs located southeast of the Village of Miaonan and west of North Ding Ding Road. Of these was the tomb of Shen Qiao, son of Shen Yingshi, and his wife. It yielded a group of painted pottery figures and pottery for daily use which provide rich materials for archaeological research on burial customs of the Ming Dynasty in the Luoyang region.
