清代白话公案小说大量描写清官依靠鬼魂告状、神灵托梦、实物暗示指点等种种神秘手段破案。这种超人力因素根据来源和职能,可以大致分为三大类,即由自然崇拜而演化成的自然神,由灵魂崇拜而演化成的人鬼、人神,由社会力量崇拜而演化成的社会神。

The vernacular detective novels of Qing Dynasty described largely the upright officials who solved a case depended on mysterious means,such as apparition went to law against personal enemy,gods appeared in one's dream and made a request,objects hinted something etc.The elements of superman power in the vernacular detective novels of Qing Dynasty are divided roughly into three categories according to source and function,namely,the natural spirits had evolved from the natural worship,the ghosts and spirits had evolved from the soul worship,the society spirits had evolved from the worship of society power.
