浅议口译译员应具备的基本素质

On Interpreters' Essential Qualities

笔译和口译有许多共同之处。二者的操作过程都是首先理解原文,经过分析,然后重新组织,最后用另外一种语言进行表述。但口译的翻译过程中还涉及听力、记忆和口头表达;同时,口译是需要当场、即时完成的,译员在正确理解的同时必须立即独立地进行一次性的翻译。因此,口译译员应具备扎实的语言基本功、广博的知识面、出众的记忆力、较强的口头表达能力、迅速的应变能力、严谨的工作作风和高度的责任感。

Interpretation is a conversion from one language to another. It has the characteristics of being instan- taneous in spreading, vague in information and off-hand in language organization. Therefore, inter preters should have some essential qualities: good basic language skills, a wide range of knowledge, a marvelous memory, good expressive power, ready adaptability, meticulous style of work and strong sense of responsibility.
