论译者的立场——以近代来华传教士口译活动为例

On translator's stance: a case study of oral interpretations of foreign missionaries in the modern times of China

国内外对译者立场的研究为数不多,法国当代著名翻译理论家贝尔曼在其《翻译批评论:约翰·唐》一书中提及译者立场。他强调,批评者在批评一部译作时,首先要考察译者立场。本文拟考察近代来华传教士口译活动及口译活动之外的译者立场,其立场大致可分为:传播宗教之立场、帝国主义立场、传播西学之立场以及传播中国文化之立场,以期待彰显其立场,为译者立场研究提供一点参考。

Studies on translator's stance are rare both at home and abroad .Antoine Berman ,a famous contemporary French translation theorist , mentions the term “translator's stance” in his work “Toward a Translation Criticism:John Donne”.He emphasizes that critics should first investigate the translator's stance before he/she starts reviewing a translated work .The present thesis is to probe into the stance of the foreign missionaries as interpreters in the mod-ern times of China .It tackles the translators'stance in four aspects , namely, the missionary stance , imperialist stance ,the stance of spreading western learning , and the stance of spreading Chinese classics .It is to highlight translator's stance and shed some light on the study of translator's stance .
