The different grammatical rules and the different thinking modes

"沃尔夫假设"认为不同语言在语法规则上的差异会导致人们思维模式的差异。英汉两种语言有不同的语法规则要求,由语法的差异而引起思维模式差异的现象普遍存在。如名词的可数与不可数、句法结构要求以及虚拟语气等都会影响人们的思维不同。其表现主要有三个方面:对事物的归类方式;对语句基本信息量传递的要求;心理语图和语言情景框的形成。

'The Whorf Hypothesis'argues that the different grammatical rules lead to the different thinking modes.As the grammatical rules in English and in Chinese are different,it is very common to see the phenomena that English learners are disordered in thinking due to the grammatical dissimilarities. The different thinking modes can be caused by the rules about countable and uncountable nouns,the requirement about syntax structure and the use of subjunctive mood. Such differences exist chiefly in three respects: the way to categorize the objects; the requirement for conveying basic amount of semantic information and the formation of psycho-schema and linguistic script.
