Marxism and Alternative Modernity—On the conversation of Aesthetics and Marxism:Chinese Aesthetic Marxists and Their Western Contemporaries

本文是关于刘康英文著作《美学与马克思主义》的对话。该书寻着历史的思路,探讨中国马克思主义在中国现代化的过程中,尤其是在意识形态领域、文化领域所起的突出的、关键性的作用。中国马克思主义是中国现代化的一个主导思想和理论依据。美学问题是研究的出发点,但问题的核心是中国现代马克思主义和现代性不同选择。作者认为农民革命和意识形态革命(或文化革命)是中国现代化不同选择的主要特征。

This article is a conversation by the author of English book,Aesthetics and Marxism:Chinese Aesthetic Marxists and Their Western Contemporaries(Dur- ham:Duke University Press,2000).The book explores from a historical per- spective the role of Chinese Marxism played in China's modernization,especially in the realms of ideology and culture.Chinese Marxism is a leading ideology in Chinese modernity,and the author examines the relationship of Chinese Mar- xism and alternative modernity in China through aesthetic discourses,as the peasant revolution and ideological(cultural)revolution are the main features of China's alternative modernity.
