The Historical Significance of Deng Xiaoping’s Decision on Resumption of College Entrance Examination——Commemorating the Thirtieth Anniversary of Resumption of College Entrance Examination

回顾了在"文革"后邓小平刚恢复工作不久,毅然作出恢复高考的决策的历史背景和作出恢复高考决策的经过。从恢复高考是全党、全国思想解放,拨乱反正的先声;使一个通过公平竞争改变每个人命运的时代到来;推动了"尊重知识,尊重人才"作为社会主流价值观的确立;使唯"家庭出身"时代的结束等方面论述了邓小平作出恢复高考决策的历史意义。

This paper recalls the historical background that Mr. Deng Xiaoping firmly made the decision of resuming College Entrance Examination shortly after he restarted working after the Cultural Revolution, and the process of the decision making. Thus, this paper discusses the historical significance of Mr. Deng Xiaoping’s decision to resume College Entrance Examination from the following aspects: the resumption of College Entrance Examination is the heartfelt wishes of whole Party and the country in the ideological liberation to bring order out of chaos; the coming of the age when every one’s fate can be changed through fair competition; the promotion of the establishment of the idea of "respecting knowledge, respecting talents" as social mainstream value; and the ending of era of only "family origin".
