The Parklet Program, proposed by the City & County of San Francisco, is becoming a worldwide urban trend of micro open space development, in which on-street parking spots are converted into public spaces for pedestrians to stop, to sit, and to rest. This improvement of the spatial quality of streets and neighborhoods is intended for people. Some successes have been illustrated through the program process, such as public participation, interagency collaboration, orientational and open design guidelines, etc.; while at the same time, parklet has also reserved further discussions on its public identity and potential role in urban time-space structure.
