Policy Towards Myanmar in the Second Session of Obama Administration

第二届,奥巴马政府前两年在第一届基础上继续对缅甸推行"务实接触"政策并加大实施力度。在推进缅甸改革方面,其成效不如第一届明显,但有利于美国维持并提升在缅甸的影响力及与东盟的关系,并给中国带来不容忽视的影响。今后两年,第二届奥巴马政府将继续实施该政策,而实施力度将视缅甸的民主改革进程而定。

In the first two years of second term,Obama administration continues to promote 'pragmatic engagement'policy to Myanmar and strengthen the efforts on the basis of first term. In terms of urging the reform of Myanmar,the policy's effect is less obvious than that in first term,but it helps to maintaining and promoting the influence in Myanmar and the relationship with the association of south-east Asian nations for US and has impacts that can't be ignored on China. In the next two years,US will continue to implement the policy and how far it will go depends on the process of the democratic reform in Myanmar.
