摘要
近年来,在英国就读的中国留学生陡然增多,语言学者们也开始关注英文学术论文写作过程中的诸多问题。中国写作的传统思维方式"起承转合"对中国留学生影响深远。本研究旨在探讨学术论文写作中教师与学生之间期望的差异,以及从学生的角度来发掘导致此差异真正的原因。通过质的分析研究方法,发现英国教师对中国留学生学术论文的评语可以归为以下8类:缺乏批判性、没有作者的个人观点、无标注的文献来源或剽窃、未经证实的论点、不规范的文献引用方式、论点与论证无相关性、不正确的学术文体、不清晰的陈述与结构不连贯。语言培训者应了解学生所需要的不仅仅是教师对他们的学术论文写作的期望,而更重要的是通过何种途径来达到目标。因此,在开始大学课程之前进行一段时间的英语语言课程学习是非常必要的,通过系统的辅导,学生能掌握学术论文写作的标准。
As the number of Chinese international students studying in the UK has grown up sharply in recent years. There has been increasing attention to the problematic issues in academic writing of Chinese students. It seems that traditional thinking approach 'qi-cheng-zhuan-he'had a strong influence on written English of contemporary Chinese students. And this case study attempts to identify mismatches in lecturer and postgraduate student expectations in order to understand the reasoning behind these mismatches from the students' perspective. By using research method of qualitative analysis,the author found that eight categories of negative comments from lecturer's feedback,it contains lack of criticality; lack of voice; unreferenced sources,unsubstantiated statements,plagiarism; inappropriate referencing conventions; lack of clear relevance and focus; inappropriate academic style; unclear expression and cohesive and structural weaknesses. Therefore,it has been concluded that the students themselvesrequire a far greater understanding not only of what is expected of them,but also of how to meet these expectations in practice and trainers need to focus on the development of the schemata. An introductory pre-sessional course for tutoring students' academic writing standards should be insisted upon by institutions for Chinese students.
