The Contrast of Chinese and Western Campus Architectural Culture

本文通过对中西方大学起源和演变进行比较,着重分 析了中西方校园建筑的差异。中国学校建筑传统上有大门和围 墙,以行政领导和教师为中心,显示出一种封闭的人文意味。而 西方校园则为开放式,面向社会,强调个性和交流。在当今知识 经济时代和全球化的背景下,应该重组校园的结构和空间,创造 自然和人文融合的新校园空间。

This paper compares the beginning and evolution of Chinese and western universities, and emphasizes the differences between the Chinese and western campus architecture. Chinese campus shows a blockade human value through its gate and wall. But western campus is more open in accordance with personality and communications. Under a globalization condition, we should re-organize the framework and space to create a new campus space with nature and human value.
