内蒙古月牙山地区出露奥陶系、志留系海相火山岩、火山碎屑岩和碳酸盐岩，其中金含量很高，且本区的岩浆活动和断裂构造为金成矿提供了相当好的条件。根据化探结果圈定了两个异常区，目前都已发现具有相当规模的蚀变带和一些金矿体。加强本区的地质勘查工作，有可能寻找到较大规模的金矿。
