Improving City International Competitiveness and Urban Management

在经济全球化和中国城市化不断深入的背景下,城市将面临更大的机遇和挑战,加强城市国际竞争力已成为城市可持续发展的必由之路。如何加强城市国际竞争力?国外的城市在对传统的管理模式进行反思的基础上,形成了城市治理理论,并在实践中发起了城市政府再造活动。中国加入WTO后,借鉴国外城市治理的理论与实践,应在六个方面做好城市政府的改革和转型。

With eco-nomic globalization and China’ urbanization process, cities will face evengreater opportunities and challenges and to maintain sustainability for urbandevelopment, it is necessary to improve the international competitiveness ofthe cities. But how? Some of the overseas cities based upon reflections on thetraditional urban management models, formed a theory of urban governance and inpractice a campaign of city government remolding is launched. After joining WTO,Chinese cities should learn from the these overseas theories and practices tofacilitate the reform and transformation of the Chinese cities, in six ways.
