Three roles of ethics in developing science and technology are analyzed in the article. The first role is to direct the development of science and technology; the second is to decide on objects for scientific research; the third is to encourage scientific and research workers to achieve successes, to promote the development and prosperity of science and technology. The article finally emphasizes that the roles of ethics in developing science and technology should be brought into full play when intellectual economy is taking shape.
