摘要
本文从哈代生活的历史背景和家庭背景以及当时的社会主要思潮达尔文的进化论、叔本华的悲观主义等入手 ,论述了哈代宿命论思想体系的形成原因和特点。作者认为 ,哈代小说的写作目的并不是一种悲观主义的宣泄 ,而是“为了生存而战”的呐喊。他的代表作《苔丝》颂扬了这种抗争精神 。
Thomas Hardy is the founder of critical realism in 20th century in Britain. This paper expounds the historical background Victoria Age, the family background the backward and patriarchal village, and the social thoughts Darwin's Evolutionism, makes analysis of the forming and characteristics of Hardy's fatalism. It is pointed out that instead of giving vent to his fatalism, this novel aimed at advocating 'struggle for survival', and praises the spirit of resistance and criticizes the capitalist concept of hypocrisy.
